Our Vision

Community-led climate action

Making a difference for people, place and planet

Our Vision and Mission

Glasgow Eco Trust is a local environmental charity and social enterprise based in west Glasgow that coordinates and delivers a range of environmental activities and services.

Glasgow Eco Trust believes that local people are best placed to meet the needs and aspirations of their communities to create vibrant, thriving and resilient communities that benefit people, place and planet.

Our mission is to enable, facilitate, and empower local people and organisations to get informed, get involved and get active, both individually and collectively, to take action that will make a difference for People, Place and Planet.

We also strive to be an excellent organisation that delivers high quality services. We work to the Revolve Reuse standards (Scotland's national standard for reuse), a Volunteer Friendly Award holder and a Living Wage employer.

    • Increased sense of control and resilience
    • More involved in decisions that affect them

  1. Transport
  2. Food
  3. Resource use
  4. Energy
  5. Spaces

Our current work is delivered across the following key work areas:

Our Operational Area

Glasgow Eco Trust is based in west Glasgow. Our primary area of focus are the following two of the twenty three electoral wards in Glasgow City. These wards are made up of the related neighbourhoods and community councils as shown:

- Ward 13 Garscadden/Scotstounhill (Yoker, Scotstoun and Knightswood)

- Ward 12 Victoria Park (Whiteinch, Jordanhill, Broomhill and Thornwood)

This area covers the G13, G14 and part of the G11 postcode areas.

The area is bounded by the River Clyde to the south, the city boundary to the west, Great Western Road to the north and a section of the railway network from Anniesland to Partick in the east.

According to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) these two wards are made up of 66 datazones, 25 (38%) of which are in the 20% most deprived areas and 15 (23%) are in the 20% least deprived areas. The population of the area is approx 55,000 people with a working age population of approx. 40,000 people.

We undertake work outwith these areas however this is usually in partnership with a range of other great organisations from across Glasgow and beyond.

Our Charitable and Company Objectives

  • Advancement of education
  • Advancement of citizenship or community development
  • Provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities
  • Advancement of environmental protection or improvement
  • Relief of those in need
  • Promote, operate and/or support other charitable projects and initiatives
